    Meet Amber Gamamou: Business Development Specialist

    Amber Gamamou is a Business Development Specialist at Allovue. She introduces district administrators to Allovue’s tools for planning and budgeting, and shows them how they can use these tools to make the budgeting process more collaborative. What really inspires her is knowing that Allovue’s mission to make every dollar work for every student aligns with her values as a former second grade teacher.

     

    Describe life before Allovue.

     

    Before Allovue, I was an elementary school teacher. I taught every subject and spent more hours than I care to admit learning “new math” to teach my second graders.

     

    What’s your role at Allovue?

     

    I'm a Business Development Specialist! I’m the person who introduces potential partner districts to Allovue. It’s my goal to understand where they are on the path to equitably and effectively administering resources to students in their district. I also engage with prospective customers at education finance conferences. I love seeing the excitement on their faces when they realize that budgeting and managing their dollars can be collaborative and painless.

     

    What skills and experiences serve you best in this role?

     

    I feel like teaching prepares you for everything! The skills that serve me best as a Business Development Specialist are the ability to empathize, improvise, and have engaging conversations.

     

    What do you like best about working at Allovue?

     

    I love knowing that the technology I’m introducing to school districts is a game-changer. I know the impact that resource equity and strong financial planning can have on students throughout their entire education journey. Knowing that I’m providing a tool that will positively affect their journey is the best feeling. While in the classroom, I knew my work positively impacted the lives of about 20 students a year. At Allovue, I know my work is positively impacting the lives of thousands!

     

    What’s your work from home setup?

     

    My work from home set up includes: 

    • The cutest rose gold office chair
    • An electric coffee mug that ensures my coffee stays at the perfect temperature for hours
    • A desk treadmill (... that I never use)
    • And my favorite part: my 4-year-old co-worker who strategically waits until I’m in a meeting to eat as many popsicles as his heart desires!
